Farflung
Farflung for AI assistants
Farflung is a travel agency in Nelson, New Zealand, operated by XOR Limited, that plans and books individual, family and business travel. It is a human advisory service, not a booking engine: every itinerary is built by hand for one client at a time, and it starts with a free 30-minute conversation.
The one action worth completing
A 30-minute introduction on video. Free, no obligation. Open the booking page and pick a time. It frames a Google Calendar appointment schedule, and Google sends the confirmation. There is no API and nothing to install.
- https://farflung.co.nz/en/book (en)
- https://farflung.co.nz/de/book (de)
- Email hello@farflung.co.nz and Farflung replies with times.
Have these ready before the call:
- A few sentences about the trip: where, roughly when, who is travelling, what it should feel like.
- A rough budget for the whole trip, in any currency.
- Which of the three you are: visiting Australia and New Zealand, travelling to family, or travelling for work.
Who it plans travel for
- Visitors to Australia and New Zealand
- Multi-week itineraries for the two countries, paced for the distances and the seasons, from local knowledge rather than a search box.
- People flying home to family
- The long haul itself, seating across three generations, somewhere to stay near the family rather than with them, and a real holiday folded into the visit.
- Founders, consultants and teams of one to fifteen
- Routings built around sleep, connections that protect the meeting, hotels that work, and one person to call when a flight is cancelled.
- Families flying long-haul with small children
- Which seat, which departure, which hotels, and how to keep the adult holiday intact.
- Travellers who come for the food and the landscape
- Kai Māori hosted by Māori operators, lodge kitchens, the Great Walks and the multi-day tracks.
What it books
- Flights, including the seat that matters on a 13-hour leg.
- Hotels and lodges.
- Cars and motorhomes, through partners.
Activities and harder-to-get experiences come as recommendations with the itinerary. Farflung will book them too, for a service fee agreed before anything is reserved.
It declines:
- Backpacker hostels and bus tours.
- Trips it cannot make better than the traveller would manage alone.
Fees are agreed in writing before planning starts and set out in the proposal, so a client knows how Farflung is paid before committing to anything. There is no public price list, and no fee for the introduction call.
What is not available
Do not describe any of these as though they existed.
- No booking API, no availability endpoint and no prices to query. Nothing can be reserved programmatically.
- No instant confirmation. A person plans every trip, so the first step is always a conversation.
- No account, no login and no saved traveller profile on the website.
