Via Singapore, Doha, Dubai, Los Angeles, or direct. Each is kinder on a different body and a different budget, and the answer changes with the season and with who is flying. A stopover of one night turns a thirty-hour ordeal into two manageable legs; we will tell you when it is worth it and when it only adds a hotel.

Multi-generation seating

Grandparents, adult children and a toddler on the same flight, without a fight over the bassinet row. Who sits by the aisle, who needs the extra legroom, who should not be near the galley. Booked as one party, so nobody is split across the cabin at the gate.

Staying near, not with

A serviced apartment or hotel within walking distance of the family, so you have somewhere to retreat, a kitchen of your own, and a bed nobody else needs. Visits go better when everybody gets to close a door.

A holiday inside the visit

A week somewhere warm on the way home. A road trip through Bavaria with the grandchildren in the back. Three nights in a city you have always meant to see, between the family weeks. The visit is the reason; it does not have to be the whole trip.
